A Story Book For Children In Bangladesh About Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

Once upon a time, in the beautiful country of Bangladesh, there lived a little boy named Ayan. Ayan loved playing cricket with his friends and eating delicious Bengali sweets like rasgulla and mishti doi. But one day, something strange happened to Ayan’s liver.

You see, inside our bodies, we have a special organ called the liver. It helps us digest food and keeps us healthy. But sometimes, when we eat too much unhealthy food, our liver can become a little sick. This is what happened to Ayan, and it’s called Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, or NAFLD for short.

Now, Ayan’s liver was feeling a bit tired because he loved eating fried samosas and jalebis from the local sweet shop. His liver started storing extra fat, just like when we keep too many toys in our room and it becomes messy. Ayan’s liver became a little messy too, and it made him feel tired and unwell.

One day, Ayan’s friend Rumi, who was very smart, noticed that Ayan wasn’t his usual energetic self. Rumi knew a lot about healthy habits, so she decided to help Ayan. She took him to the beautiful Buriganga River, where they sat under a big banyan tree.

Rumi explained to Ayan that his liver needed some extra care. She told him that he needed to eat more fruits and vegetables, just like the juicy mangoes and crunchy cucumbers that grew in their village. Rumi also taught Ayan about the importance of exercise, like running and playing outside, to keep his liver healthy.

Ayan listened carefully and promised Rumi that he would make some changes. He started eating more nutritious food like daal, fish, and fresh salads. He also joined Rumi in playing cricket every evening, running and jumping with joy.

As the days went by, Ayan’s liver started feeling better. It became less messy and started working properly again. Ayan felt more energetic and happy, just like before. He thanked Rumi for her help and promised to always take care of his liver.

From that day on, Ayan became a role model for all the children in Bangladesh. He taught them about the importance of eating healthy food and staying active. They all started calling him “Liver Hero” because he had overcome NAFLD and helped others do the same.

And so, dear children, remember the story of Ayan, the Liver Hero of Bangladesh. Take care of your liver by eating healthy food and playing outside. Just like Ayan, you can keep your liver happy and be a hero too! Now, close your eyes, drift off to sleep, and dream of a healthy and happy liver. Goodnight!
